When Today’s News Herald, Lake Havasu’s, Ariz., daily newspaper needed an editorial makeover, the newspaper’s owners called Ghostwriter Media
Mike Bailey, a former managing editor in the Chicago Sun-Times news group, has extensive experience in refocusing newsrooms in small to mid-sized newspapers, as well as hiring highly qualified reporters, designers and managing editors.
Today’s News Herald needed all of those skills. During an extended stay in Lake Havasu, Bailey improved copy and page flow, reassigned reporters to maximize efficiency, emphasized quality writing, hired two reporters and a designer and assisted the publisher in hiring a new managing editor.
In addition, Bailey revamped, reorganized and refocused the publication’s quarterly magazine, which had foundered due to poor concept and design. Circulation and advertising revenue recovered and today the newspaper enjoys a revival fueled by excellently written articles, engagingly displayed.
