Ghostwriter Media has provided editorial consultation for the Williston Herald (ND) and the Pierre Capital Journal (SD).
In Pierre we directed the news operation for two months while we helped search for a managing editor. We also assisted in hiring reporters, photographers, desk personnel, reorganized the focus of the news coverage, created a Features section, repackaged news and helped with a complete editorial redesign. We also initiated the use of social media, video, Flickr and interactive components to enhance the web experience without destroying print circulation.
In Williston, we hired three reporters and a managing editor after extensive interviews, reorganized the news coverage to focus on more compelling stories and helped reorganize the staff to smooth out copy and page flow issues. We trained reporters in the field and worked with them to improve their writing.
In Lake Havasu, Ariz., we extensively revamped the newsroom, hiring an outstanding page designer and two reporters, as well as a managing editor. During that process, we reorganized page and copy flow, incorporated more local art, expanded the Lifestyle section to embrace more of the community and expanded local sports. We also assigned, edited and produced the quarterly four-color magazine Havasu Today.
